Surroundings MATTER
Apr 19, 2024With this newsletter, I’d like to bust the myth of the phrase “No matter where we go we take ourselves with us”. This saying is true, but in this newsletter, I’d like to give you a new perspective of how the right surroundings will boost your productivity, become an endless source of inspiration, not to mention present you with opportunities you never dreamed of before. All of this will become an integral part of you and your creativity.
I don’t know about you, but every time I wanted to move somewhere to have a better life, opportunities etc, I was often told that I’m just looking for an escape instead of looking inside myself. Can I be totally honest with you? I’m sick and tired of the endless analysis paralysis I was dealing with earlier in my life, partially because of those pieces of “advice” from people thinking they know it all.

A spectacular interior in a hotel, a city with a better work life balance or a dynamic city with endless ideas, encounters, and events, a calm village with the freshest air, - all of that can be that missing part of your life, and if you decide to go after it, you’ll become the happiest, healthiest, and enthusiastic version of yourself. All because you decided to find that missing part OUTSIDE yourself.
Even though, our life today is the result of past actions, it’s in our hands to increase our quality of life by… “escaping”!
I’m a person who is dependent on the outer world. Most of my adult life I was trying to change that in myself, as the direct result of other people telling me that I have some mental blocks to solve first before changing my surroundings. I didn’t want to agree with them and I knew that they were wrong, but because we tend to prioritize other’s opinions, there were times when I agreed to them. But my recent move to Munich has just proven the contrary.
And not just the move! When I stay in an incredibly stylish hotel in the mountains, I feel like I am re-born. When I stay somewhere for a week or two and attend enriching events, it has a fantastic effect on me. However, an important thing to keep in mind is having a goal to why you’re “escaping”. And yes, it can also be tiny!
I lacked quality of life, security, work life balance, the mountain feel, art, and design. So, instead of fixing that imaginary error inside me as some people told me to do, I followed my inner voice and my heart.
I’m telling you - I couldn’t even imagine that I could be THAT happy just by living and existing. I’ve become incredibly grateful, healthy, and productive in a balanced way.
I can’t help but notice my face becoming smiley in almost every single photo, whereas the old me, living in Frankfurt, always had a depressed facial expression, as if I was sick all the time 🫠 Definitely not a coincidence.
So, if you’re currently struggling with your surroundings but others tell you to just accept them and search for solutions inside, I’m asking you to politely ignore them and follow your inner voice which we sometimes be suppress.
Time to escape!
