Stop Hiding Your Genius. Shout It LOUD!!

Feb 15, 2025

Weekend takeaway: Being bold and shouting about your BRILLIANT work from the mountaintop is WAY MORE IMPORTANT than your skills alone.

Controversial? Yes.
True? 100%.

Let me share some super effective and eye-opening tips on marketing your creative services without any guilt about being "too loud" (speaking from experience - I lost 5+ years being too shy, and trust me, it’s not good for your personality or your bank account lol).

BUT before we dive into these powerful tips, let me invite you to a 1:1 talk with me, where I’ll be discussing how to run effective marketing campaigns for creatives, helping you ditch the fear of being judged by your friends, relatives (pick yours!), or anyone else when you want to post and create freely without worrying if it's “not what people are used to” (please, PLEASE, don’t let others limit your incredible potential!).

Oh, and we’ll also cover how to actually draw!

👉 Register here for my brand-new LIVE drawing workshop (it’s free) - featuring a fresh curriculum, fresh sketches, and a session that’s as entertaining, insightful, and stylish as you’d expect. Here’s the link to register for free once again.

Now, on to the tips (which, by the way, I’m also implementing to promote my own art - because as I shared in my last newsletter about reigniting passion, I only share things I’ve experienced or am currently going through).

ONE: Obsessively Document Your Process

WHY? There are tons of artists and designers out there, but most only share their finished work with captions like, “Look at my beautiful work, let’s collab.”

That doesn’t cut it anymore.
Why? Because there are simply TOO MANY CREATIVES doing the same thing.

People don’t just buy your art or services - they buy into YOUR journey!

Like Ryan Serhant says:

“People don’t like being sold to, but they love going shopping with friends.”

Show it all: the behind-the-scenes chaos, the messy sketches, the late-night brainstorming, the struggles, the wins, the real you.

This isn't oversharing - it's storytelling that builds trust, intrigue, and loyalty.

(P.S. Your future self will thank you, too. I’m still frustrated that I didn’t document my interior design studies or my journey to one of my biggest goals so far - which I talked about HERE)

TWO: Stop Selling Services - Start Selling Transformations

Your work isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s a CATALYST for change.

Don’t market your service as a thing. Market the outcome.

Say it loud:

“I don’t design spaces - I create unforgettable environments that inspire creativity, nurture relationships, and make life better (yes, even with clever room dividers that can open or close depending on the mood lol).”

Make them feel like not hiring you is the REAL risk.

THREE: Your Name is Your Brand - Make It Unforgettable

Your work doesn’t just speak for itself - YOU speak for it.

Be the face of your brand. The voice of your vision. The person people immediately think of when they need design work.

Obsession-worthy branding starts with you.

FOUR: If You’re Not Talking About Your Work Every Day, You’re Invisible

This ties into the first tip, but it's really about consistency.

I read in one of the best branding books that with the GAZILLIONS of content produced daily, silence is the fastest way to be forgotten.

So:

  •  Post daily.
  •  Show up daily.
  •  Talk about your work daily.

Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment - ANY moment can be your moment if you’re bold enough to claim it.

The louder you are, the faster opportunities come your way.

FIVE: Say YES, Then Figure It Out Later

This is SO me 😄 - and honestly, it’s how I started working on high-end projects right from the start of my career.

I defined myself as a luxury illustrator and designer even when I was just beginning.

But here’s the thing: It’s not lying - it's acting from your bigger self.

That big project that scares you? Say yes.
That collaboration that feels out of reach? Say yes.

Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. Your creativity thrives on challenges. Trust yourself to deliver.

Confidence closes deals.
Action creates brilliance.

BONUS TIP!!

No one’s hiring you? No projects in sight?
GOOD!!!!

Market yourself harder. Experiment more.

Don’t wait for opportunities to knock - kick down the damn door yourself! 😄

  •  Pitch yourself relentlessly.
  •  DM brands.
  •  Email businesses.
  •  Call people if you have to.

You’re not “bothering” anyone - you’re offering them your GENIUS IDEAS.

If you’re not actively selling your services, someone else is selling theirs.

Once again, we’ll cover all of this in my upcoming workshop - LIVE! Register here - it’s free!

Wishing you the absolute best of luck. And really…
Be as bold and loud as you can! 🚀
