You’re Closer Than You Think

Live, draw, and design as if you are already inside your big goal, dream, or vision.

Each of you may have a different vision - it might be building your own house that you’ve been dreaming of for years, getting promoted at your dream job, attracting high-caliber clients, or gaining your very first client after going full-time with your design firm. Spoiler alert: they will!

I’m writing this extra newsletter while sitting on a plane to New York, where I’m attending THE event of the year on marketing, content creation, and sales strategies for 2024 and beyond. I’ll also be attending a VIP dinner with a closed group of entrepreneurs, including Ryan Serhant, whose mentorship program I joined at the end of June 🗽

Now, you might wonder why I’m sharing all this, especially since it seems unrelated to drawing and designing. But it is related. If you’ve been reading my newsletters, you know that nowadays, just being an expert isn’t enough. We wear multiple hats, whether it’s as content creators, video editors, copywriters (hello from my other personality as a writer - I write all my emails myself!), or salespeople.

Yes, each and every one of you is a salesperson too, as long as you offer any service or are trying to land that dream job. In that case, you’re promoting yourself as the BEST candidate they’ve ever seen!

Our brains don’t care whether you’re in a reality or just in your thoughts. This means that, as banal as it might sound, anything you imagine can become your reality.

As usual, let me share some practical examples from my own life, particularly from this trip. Right now, I’m sitting in business class, holding my hard-earned German passport, and getting ready for a VIP event with some of the best experts in the world. Yeah, I know - it sounds like bragging, but bear with me for the real truth you might not expect!

This newsletter is where I’m being super real because on social media, we only see the perfect picture. I want you to know the behind-the-scenes story as much as I’d love to hear yours, so let’s keep it transparent.

Now, the facts: my new citizenship represents 10 years of hard work, tears, and many unglamorous events that no one knows about.

When I was booking the event, I had no idea if I’d be able to go because I was so stuck in my work mindset and partially negative. Remembering why I’m going there and the kind of people, energy, and possibilities I’d encounter helped me regain my enthusiasm. Because I quickly decided to join that VIP mentorship, I received a special offer that wasn’t available the next day. In fact, the price doubled or even tripled afterward. So, the ability to make decisions quickly can save you money - that’s guaranteed from my own experience! Opportunities come to life with that positive energy, not with the mindset of “I can’t do this, I’m not worth it.”

And finally, about business class: want a cool hack on how I ended up there without paying a fortune or having someone pay for me? Ask for an upgrade the day before your flight - NOT earlier, that’s important! They often reduce prices significantly for unsold seats, which they sell last-minute at a much lower cost. Now you know how I fly business - you're welcome!

And no, I don’t collect miles, which I probably should 😀
So, if you’re not where you want to be, as simple as it sounds, switch your thoughts and act as if you already have it. Even better, find something that connects your current self with your future self. It doesn’t have to be an extensive trip to another continent; you could watch a video of someone whose life you admire, join an online community that inspires you, film a short video, or draw that sketch and design a dream project, even if no one has asked you to do so. DO IT FOR YOU - because you love yourself enough to live life to the fullest.

I know if someone had told me this eight years ago, when I was on the verge of being kicked out of the country due to visa issues and had no idea how to fulfill my creative dreams, I would have thought they were on something.

But this is why I’m sharing this with you - to open your eyes to new possibilities that aren’t traditional but work 1000%!
