Why Not You? 2025 Is YOUR Year of Bold Moves
Jan 02, 2025…seriously, why not us? Why not you, taking the first step to make your dreams a reality and leaving your mark on the world? Maybe someone told you that you didn’t have the so-called talent, or that you should never pick up a pencil again. Or perhaps in design, someone made you feel like you could never be the next Kelly Wearstler or Jonathan Adler?
Speaking of the latter, I had the chance to meet their incredible team twice - once in Paris and again in New York. Being able to meet your favorite designers in real life is truly another level, but now, let’s get back to the core message of this newsletter, which is all about becoming iconic in your own right!
First off - understand that the people who spread negativity or critique simply don’t have the courage to do it themselves. It’s WAY easier to talk than to take action. So when they criticize, it’s really about them, not you.
→ Now, let’s identify the starting point. Do any of these sound familiar?
"How incredible it must be to have talent like this…"
"I’m not starting my interior design career because I can’t draw."
(As I remember, Shea McGee shared this in her book, Make Life Beautiful - highly recommend it if you’re looking to build your own design business from scratch!)
"How do I bring my ideas to paper? I didn’t go to art school."
Ah, my dear friends, I’ve been there. I wasted 5+ years letting thoughts like this stop me from pursuing my passion. But now, it’s my mission to show you, with my own example, that EVERYONE is capable of calling themselves an artist, designer, and simply drawing because they WANT to. It’s time to HEAL FROM THE PAST - from teachers who told us we would never be good enough.
My work you’re seeing today is the result of years of sketching, experimenting, and simply trying new things. I’m constantly learning and improving.
My drawings aren’t perfect - they’re not “realistic” or up to the standards of art schools. I still remember my teacher telling me my watercolor drawings “sucked.”
But guess what? Even then, I knew my art had a place. It had something to say, and I wasn’t going to let criticism stop me from trying.
The truth is: your confidence in your work is more important than the actual ability. When you own your creative voice, the world will perceive your work as brilliant, no matter what.
Have you ever been to a museum and thought, “Wait a damn minute, I can do better than that?”
Why not YOU?
Because being bold, brave, and open-minded is the KEY to real confidence. It’s not about perfect lines - it’s about how confidently you express yourself. Believe in your work, no matter how it looks.
Think about this - remember in school when we had to learn a poem by heart? At first, we were nervous, right?
But once we practiced over and over, confidence grew.
You weren’t afraid of the bad grade or the criticism because you knew you put in the work. You practiced, got better, and the results spoke for themselves.
It’s the same with drawing.
As you practice, your skills will improve, and your confidence will grow.
👉 Don’t be afraid to start. Develop your skills, trust the process, and most importantly, believe in your work. Practice, experiment, and be fearless.
Your art has a place in this world, just like mine does.
But it all starts with confidence - in your skills, in your voice, in your vision. Let’s make 2025 the year we all become bolder, braver, and more confident in our creativity.
If you’ve said YES to at least one of these insights above, you’ll LOVE my brand-new updated online program. It’s not just about drawing brand new interior design concepts on BOTH iPad AND paper (YES, paper too - this has been a hit in my projects), but also about creating the right content, boosting marketing, and building the confidence to take your career to the next level.
As much as we want to JUST create and draw (or design), it’s not enough, especially in 2025. A LOT of incredible designers are building their Instagram accounts as we speak. But guess what? You don’t have to fear this. No one is you. It’s all about making your creativity part of your personal brand - and that’s what SELLS.
This is the focus of my program - and the waitlist is now open! Sign up HERE to get early access, exclusive offers, and all the special gifts that come with it! đź’«
Enjoy your first weekend of 2025 - let’s make it AWESOME!
