Turning the Page

Jan 14, 2024

Imagine your Plan A, you've been working on for many years, has just gone south…

and you find yourself without a Plan B, clueless about what to do next, with the world crumbling around you.

I’ve been there and done that, I hope it never happens to you. But… it’s the essence of my message.

I'm currently on my way to IMM in Cologne, the biggest interior business event in Germany. Exactly four years ago, AT THIS VERY EVENT, I had my dream job interview - an aspiration I had been pursuing my entire adult life.

Since I was a kid, I dreamed of working as a designer, intertwining design and art. I envisioned going to the Academy of Arts in my hometown, designing spaces in my mind. Despite the detour of studying journalism, my childhood dream never faded.

It persisted so much that I finally decided to take a bold step, risk everything, move to a foreign country, and pursue my dream of becoming a well-known interior designer who also creates stunning art.

Big dream. Hard work. Dedication. Belief that everything would eventually work out. Graduating with high scores. A dream job offer as a recent graduate. What could possibly go wrong? Well, life happens when you make plans.

Did I get the job after a series of interviews? Yes, I did.

Did I work there? No, I didn't.

2020 had different plans for me.

And this is when real life steps in.

I hit rock bottom after my dream design job offer was rescinded. There I was, starting from scratch. AGAIN.

When you’re at the bottom, you usually have two choices:

you can sink deeper into sadness, settle for the first thing that comes across,
OR
activate the mindset of 'I have nothing to lose anyway' and FINALLY START LIVING BIG. No guarantees. No perfect plans for an ideal future.

Following your TRUE SELF without any distractions from those on the outside.

That's what I did.

You know how to understand if you're on the right path? If things are moving in the right direction.

After deciding to work with interior design and illustration full time as a solo entrepreneur, channeling all my effort and ideas into marketing, I got my first clients almost instantly. At times, I was so overloaded with work that I had to reject some clients or put them on the waitlist.

Then, the Academy project happened, and that's how our paths crossed ☺️

It was anything but easy, BUT it showcased how all those ideas and visions, that had been burning inside of me for years, finally found expression.

I’m sharing all this to prove that if you're currently in a situation that appears to have no way out, this might be your starting point for something even bigger. Every situation in life, that seemed the most dramatic at the time, turned out to be for the good. These moments are blessings, offering chances to go after BIGGER goals. We just have to notice them and do the necessary work.

👉 One thing is for sure. Being passive will lead even the most talented person nowhere.

Wishing you the best of luck in whatever you're currently doing, and remember, everything happens for a reason!

Regards from Cologne,
