TODAY: iPad Drawing vs. Paper ✏️

This morning, while preparing for today’s session, I found myself drawing the same interior on both paper and iPad. Yes, you’ll see me demonstrate both techniques live. And here’s the funny thing - while I’m primarily a digital artist and designer, I re-discovered my passion for paper drawing!

It’s such a fascinating process, and it reminds me of a story one of my students, Lauren, shared with me. After drawing digitally for a while, she found that it actually boosted her confidence when she went back to paper. It’s incredible how these two worlds really complement each other.

You’ve probably heard of the legendary UNDO button inside Procreate. The beauty of digital drawing is that you can experiment with lines, colors, and styles as much as you want without the fear of making mistakes. If something doesn’t look right, you simply press undo and try again. No erasing, no waste of time - just pure creativity!

And think about the time you save! No more setting up your workspace, organizing colors, or dealing with revisions. The world moves fast, and speed is a necessity. Digital drawing lets you focus on your creativity without the distractions.

Not to mention the cost! I love using a wide range of colors to communicate my ideas, but let’s be real - just one Copic marker can be expensive! And I need at least 300+ colors! With the iPad, I have unlimited colors at my fingertips.

Once you get comfortable with digital drawing, you’ll find that your process becomes super intuitive. You’ll discover which tools you enjoy the most, which pens and pencils fit your style, and what works best for your vision. And guess what? Once you’ve built that confidence digitally, going back to paper will feel like second nature. It’s the best of both worlds!
