Shyness and Creativity

Apr 12, 2024

While working on a new YouTube video about 10 things I wish I knew as an interior design student, I realized how much prejudice and how many mental obstacles I had back then which had stopped me from fulfilling my creative potential and bringing my ideas to life. Let’s go!

👇

One of the biggest hurdles I faced was overcoming my own shyness. I realized that no matter how brilliant my ideas were, they meant nothing if I kept them hidden away. It's crucial to share your ideas with the world, even if they're not perfect yet. Perfection is a myth that only holds us back, and ''Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it”, as Salvador Dali used to say.

Have you ever been criticized by professors for your ideas? I certainly have, and while criticism can build resilience, it can also crush your passion. I wish someone had told me earlier not to take criticism too seriously, as it's often just one person's opinion.

Another lesson I learned is that nobody has the right to dictate what you should create except for yourself. Trust your instincts and believe in your projects, even if others doubt them. I'll never forget the time a professor tore apart a project I was proud of. It taught me the importance of standing by my work, no matter what.

I also wish I had bought my iPad earlier and started digital drawing sooner! As a struggling student, I couldn't afford to buy endless art supplies. But with an iPad, it’s the possibilities that are endless. It has revolutionized my creative process and allowed me to bring my visions to life in ways I never thought possible.

I'm currently filming a video about my journey for my YouTube channel, and I can't wait to share it with you. Stay tuned!

Wishing you a fantastic day ahead!
