Develop Your Talent

Jul 12, 2024

Have you ever looked at some renowned designers, architects, or artists and thought, “I wish I could do this too” or “They were definitely born with talent and I wasn’t, so I’m not even going to try,” or “No way I can do this”?

At this stage, I could start a whole speech about the Law of Attraction and how our thoughts create our reality, but we already talked about that last week HERE. Today’s newsletter is going to be a practical edition :) Let’s dive in!

Hell, I think those thoughts too. Recently, I discovered an artist-slash-designer with ICONIC works, and my first thought was, “What talent!” But then I forced myself to stop. There’s no such thing as talent. Simply not. But I do believe that our surroundings, upbringing, and environment strongly affect our work.

The good thing is that we have influence over all this and can adjust it as needed, even if we have to work nine to five without our big dreams of becoming a famous, renowned specialist in sight đźŚź

ONE: Create your dream surroundings, whether it is a small corner in your home dedicated to your passion or a desk in your office with the necessary books and magazines that show that every dream can become a reality.

Here’s how I re-arranged my living room to become my art studio of a renowned artist! Okay, not 100% me, but my dad, who is currently visiting, helped me re-arrange this :D

Having an inspiration corner (you can even give it a name) will invite you to work on your dreams even when you feel down or not inspired at all. And if not… this second piece of advice is for you.

TWO: Create your inspiration. There’s a reason why I have tons of interior and art magazines, books about my favorite artists, and attend various exhibitions and gallery openings. I want to be part of it. I close my eyes and feel that I belong here. This is how it should be. This is my gallery opening. This is my dream client. YOU ARE ENOUGH. Nothing comes from nothing.

Spoiler alert: No, just scrolling through Instagram won’t help. I don’t know about you, but for me, it has the contrary effect. It somehow gives me the feeling of not being good enough and leaves a slightly negative effect.

Cute cat videos don’t count :D

Move! Go outside! Inform yourself about the upcoming events in your field. Just don’t sit at home and only dream. Just dreaming and manifesting alone won’t do the work. Speaking of work…

THREE: Create. Create bad things. Childish things. Laughable things. Things you hate and would like to throw away and never look at again. Surprised? How else are we going to grow? I have to pinch myself sometimes and remind myself that…

…I CAN’T TURN INTO PICASSO OVERNIGHT.

Do I need to remind you of his napkin story and how he created a quick scribble on a napkin, and the lady was surprised why it cost multiple thousands of dollars for a 20-second drawing? Google this story - it’ll explain it better than me.

Do the work. Take care of your talent. Don’t expect your talent to knock on your door one day and tell you, “SURPRISE!!! Here I am - your talent! It’s time to become famous! :D”

FOUR: What you might think is special and unique might be average for others. What does this show us? OUR WORK IS SUBJECTIVE. For you, you don’t have talent. For others, you do. Don’t terrorize yourself - give yourself the space to create.

FIVE: Become friends with experimentation. You don’t need to show each of your pieces of work to the public. Keep it for yourself. Experiment. Create bad art. Okay, I think I already told you this in the third point, didn’t I?

You know what? WE CAN DO THIS!! Funny, but I also write all these newsletters for myself too as a reminder when I need some support from the other me, the wiser and more successful me :D

Let’s become iconic TOGETHER!!
