Design Challenge Up and Running!

And we did it - day one is officially done! 🎉 I started the 5-day design challenge by breaking down how layers work for interiors and how to pick the right composition with purpose.

If you haven’t already signed up for the Drawing Design Challenge, make sure to do it HERE! It’s a 5-day challenge where you’ll be designing and drawing on your iPad using the Procreate app. You’ll learn different techniques like creating a floor plan, designing furniture from scratch, and integrating a collage approach, among others.

Layers might not create the drawing itself, but they’re key for flexibility - allowing you to color selected areas without affecting the rest of the composition. And don’t forget the magical DUPLICATE button (in addition to its trusty friend, the UNDO button 😅)!

Here’s a funny story: When I first got my very first iPad 7 years ago, I had no idea there was an eraser in Procreate. So, what did I do? I’d pick the same color as the background, create a new layer, and color over the line I wanted to erase. I thought I was totally nailing digital drawing LOL. As you can imagine, that didn’t last long 😅

But hey, I started somewhere, and this is why I’m so passionate about this challenge - to help you avoid those roadblocks and shorten your learning curve!

So, starting with layers has a personal connection to my own journey when I was just starting out - except I didn’t have a mentor, and it took me years to figure things out, not to mention finding the right brushes and, yes, erasers!
